Spider Control in Sparks, NV
Family-Owned Spider Control for Sparks & the Truckee Meadows Region Since 2017
Spiders don’t wander indoors randomly. They follow insect prey into structures, settling where temperatures stay stable and moisture is available. That means a spider problem is often a sign of broader insect activity working its way in from outside. At Truckee Meadows Pest Control, we address both: the spiders present and the underlying insect food source drawing them in. We’ve served Sparks and the greater Reno area as a family-owned business since 2017, working with residential and commercial clients throughout the region.
Northern Nevada’s high-desert climate makes this a year-round concern. Wide seasonal temperature swings push insects toward structures in late summer and early fall, and spiders follow close behind.

Common Spider Species Found in Sparks Homes
Before building a control program, we inspect each property to identify which species are present. The right approach depends on what’s actually there. These are the three species Sparks residents encounter most often.
Black Widow
The adult female has a spherical abdomen, black or brown coloring, and a reddish hourglass marking on the underside. Body length runs about 1/2 inch. Black widows favor undisturbed, low-traffic spots: under decks, in woodpiles, and in garage or crawlspace corners. They’re venomous and the primary species of concern in Northern Nevada, though they generally avoid human contact when left undisturbed.
Wolf Spider
A hunting spider rather than a web builder, the wolf spider is dark brown with paler stripes and a hairy abdomen. Females range from 3/8 to 1 3/8 inches. They shelter outdoors under stones, firewood, and leaf litter and rarely come indoors on their own. Stored firewood brought inside is the most common route they take into Sparks homes.
Sun Spider
Also called a camel spider or wind scorpion, the sun spider is golden and hairy with distinctive scorpion-like front appendages. Body length ranges from 0.4 to 2 inches. It’s nocturnal and feeds on ground-dwelling insects including termites and beetles. Though its appearance can be alarming, the sun spider isn’t venomous to humans.

Our Spider Control Process for Sparks Properties
Each visit follows a consistent process designed to address current activity and help prevent spiders from reestablishing. We don’t just treat what’s visible.
Inspection & Web Removal
We begin with a full property inspection to locate active areas, harborage points, and signs of insect activity. Existing webs and egg sacs are knocked down and vacuumed using dedicated spider removal equipment. Removing egg sacs is a critical step that DIY approaches often miss entirely.
Targeted Indoor & Outdoor Treatment
We apply a broad-spectrum insecticide indoors in cracks and crevices and outdoors along the building perimeter. The treatment targets both spiders and their insect food source, addressing the root cause of activity rather than just the visible spiders. The product carries a residual effect that remains active for up to 90 days. Glue boards are placed strategically in active zones to capture any spiders not reached during the initial application.
Ongoing Quarterly Prevention
For lasting results, preventive insecticide treatments can be applied on a quarterly basis. Regular visits maintain the perimeter barrier, reduce the insect populations that attract spiders, and catch new activity before it establishes inside the home.
